Behind the Biz: Entrepreneur Spotlight #6

Meet Dung Nghi (Pam), Founder of Pawlance - Paws and Balance
We’re spotlighting Pam, an entrepreneur with a heart full of love for animals. Once a graphic designer who didn’t care for pets, Pam now spends her days improving the lives of cats and dogs at 𝗣𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 pet shelter in Da Nang. She’s also the founder of Pawlance - Paws and Balance, a business providing healthy, homemade meals—and even special birthday pâté cakes—for furry friends! 🎂
From Cat-Hater to Pet Advocate
Pam didn’t always love animals. In fact, she used to dislike cats after a bad childhood experience. But life had other plans. During the pandemic, she lost her job and ended up living with her coworkers… and six cats, which sparked her love for these quirky companions. Later, working at a rescue restaurant and adopting pets herself solidified her mission to care for animals.
A Purr-fect Business Ideas
In 2022, Pam started making pâté for her fur babies, shared it with a friend feeding strays, and soon found herself with customers asking for more. By Tet 2023, she was delivering wet food across Saigon, earning loyal clients with her dedication and care.
Learning from the Litter Box of life
Pam’s advice to entrepreneurs? “𝘽𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣. 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚.”

Her journey hasn’t been without challenges. Overcommitting to orders once stretched her capacity, affecting quality. If she could do it again, she’d seek advice from experienced entrepreneurs to prepare for potential risks. But through it all, her mission remains clear: to give pets the best life that they deserve.
